Message from our Headteachers (15th Oct 2021)

As our first term reaches an end, we are extremely proud of the children and all that they have achieved since returning in September. We would like to send particular congratulations to Year 3 who are now well and truly settled into the SSJS family.

We are delighted at how well you are all doing. Through exploring challenges, celebrating achievements and enjoying brilliant learning moments, the children have been able to learn more about themselves and others around them. Read our October newsletter HERE

Twitter allows short messages, photographs and videos to be shared. Many schools now use Twitter to share regular updates with parents throughout the school day, to keep parents informed about life at their child’s school.

We have been using Twitter as a school now for the past six years (@SSJSCanterbury) and as well as keeping parents up to date with a normal school day, we have been able to keep parents updated whilst on school trips, such as the skiing trip, bushcraft and PGL, as well as during special events such as music concerts and assemblies. We look forward to seeing more of our parents take advantage of this innovative way of sharing their child's journey through school! There is a link to our Twitter feed on the school website.

White Rose Maths with Michael

  Maths with Michael

A blurb from the White Rose Maths website best describe this fantastic collaboration: "White Rose Maths have teamed up with TV presenter, teacher and parent Michael Underwood to bring you a mini-series called Maths with Michael.

We understand that many parents feel like maths has changed and can sometimes find it difficult to keep up to date with modern teaching methods in maths. Well don’t worry, we’re here to help. With over 80% of Primary schools and a growing number of Secondary schools using our free schemes of learning, supporting resources and assessments, we can help you bridge the gap between school and home.

Episodes will be released each Sunday at 4pm and Wednesday at 7pm for 3 weeks. Episodes will give you an introduction to place value, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and algebra. If popular and useful for parents and carers we may delve deeper into one of these topics in another mini-series. Now sit back and enjoy!"
