School Value of the month
January Value – Questioning
During January, children discussed the value of questioning and how they could use this to deepen their knowledge and understanding of their own learning, as well as developing their understanding of the world around them.
In assembly children were encouraged to think about big questions and looked at Charles Darwin as an example of someone that had questioned the world around them and through this process changed how people understood the world. Children were then able to apply this thinking in creating their own questions to help them solve problems during STEM investigations.
In year 4 children had the challenge of making homes that would resist a flood and had to ask key questions about the materials that should be used, structures that would be the most stable and how they could improve their original design. They had great fun testing their models!
