Year 5 is a challenging and exciting year as children move into the upper school and have more opportunities than ever before.
It is an important year which prepares them for the Kent Test and Year 6, so we expect children to work hard and make the most of the experiences on offer. We also go on lots of educational trips to enhance our learning in school.
Please remember to read with your child every night…this is such an important part of their education and development, and we rely on parents to support the school in teaching children to read.
Our maths lessons cover a number of areas, but we are specifically focusing on improving the children’s written and mental calculation strategies for the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.) These strategies are key in all areas of maths, and the more practice children can get at doing them the better! Please see your child’s maths teacher if you would like further information on how best to help your child at home with their progress in maths.

Each year group has its own CLASS DOJO. This is a communication platform that allows parents to contact your child's class teacher. It's also a place where we can show you what your child's class have been doing and to share and celebrate children's achievements. By using the log in details provided by your year group, you can log in and use the Class Dojo.
